Srinagar: The killers of a Hindu lady teacher from Jammu and a BJP Sarpanch and his wife have been eliminated by the security forces in two encounters in which 4 terrorists were gunned down, police said.
Two terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit were killed in an encounter in Mishipora area of Kulgam district yesterday, which resumed after a break of two days.
The operation to hunt down the terrorists hiding there was launched on June 14 but after initial exchange of fire, there was a lull as the terrorists shifted their location, the police said.
However, the security forces maintained tight cordon in the village and contact was re-established with the terrorists yesterday afternoon, it said.
In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were gunned down, one by one.

One of the slain terrorists was identified as Zubair Sofi and he was involved in the killing of woman teacher Rajni Bala in Kulgam on May 31, the police said.
Rajini Bala, who hailed from Samba in Jammu province, was killed outside the government High School in Gopalpora where she taught.
She was one of the victims of targeted killing of Hindus, Kashmiri Pandits and non-Kashmiris in the Valley by the terrorists.

In a separate encounter in Hangalgund area of Kokernag in Anantnag district, two more terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed.
Among the two, one of the terrorists was identified as Basit Wani, who was involved in the killing of BJP Sarpanch Gh Rasool Dar and his wife, a Panch, on August 9, last year, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.
