Srinagar, Aug 26 (NVI) : Deciding on a major administrative overhaul of Ladakh, the Central government today announced the formation of 5 new districts in the Union Territory.
Following this decision, the Union Territory will have 7 districts.
This move comes in line with PM Narendra Modi’s goal of establishing an affluent and prosperous Ladakh by ensuring increased governance and bringing services closer to people,
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in a social media post.
He said the new districts will be Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang.
“Creation of these districts will ensure that the benefits meant for the people reach their doorsteps, enhancing governance across every nook and cranny of Ladakh,” Shah said. (NVI)
