Lt Gen Balbir Singh to Take Over as GOC of Chinar Corps in Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 27 (NVI):- Lieutenant General Balbir Singh, a seasoned officer with vast experience in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism (CI/CT) operations, is set to assume command as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army’s prestigious Chinar Corps in Srinagar.

An alumnus of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Lt Gen Singh brings with him decades of operational expertise, particularly in conflict zones. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir continues to demand high levels of coordination and strategic leadership.

Prior to this, Lt Gen Singh successfully headed the Counter Insurgency Force Victor, a key formation responsible for maintaining security in South Kashmir and parts of the Pir Panjal region. Under his leadership, the force played a significant role in carrying out anti-terror operations and maintaining stability in sensitive areas.

The Chinar Corps, also known as XV Corps, is one of the most strategically important formations of the Indian Army, overseeing operations in the Kashmir Valley. Lt Gen Singh’s elevation to this role is seen as a testament to his operational acumen and leadership in handling complex security challenges.

His assumption of command is expected to further strengthen ongoing efforts to ensure peace and stability in the Kashmir.(NVI)
