New Delhi (NVI): All passengers travelling to Maharashtra from Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa will have to carry a Covid negative report, as per the new guidelines issued by the state government.
Maharashtra government today issued a revised protocol for people travelling to Maharashtra by air, train, or roads which will come into effect from November 25, 2020.
The restrictions come amid a post-festive spike in COVID-19 cases across the country.
“The passengers without symptoms will be allowed entry. Passengers with symptoms shall have the option of turning back and going to their home to recuperate,” a state government order said.
The order also stipulated that all domestic passengers travelling from airports in NCR Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa shall carry RT-PCR negative test reports with them before boarding and show them to the teams at the arrival airport in the state.
The RT-PCR sample collection should have been done within 72 hours of scheduled time of landing at airports in Maharashtra, the order said.
The state government has also issued new travel guidelines for trains originating or having halt/stop at stations in these 4 states.
All such passengers will have to carry a negative RT-PCR test report before they enter Maharashtra. The testing will have to be done within 96 hours of scheduled arrival in Maharashtra.
Passengers not having an RT-PCR test negative report shall be screened for symptoms and body temperature at the alighting railway stations. The passengers without symptoms would be allowed to go home.
Those who display symptoms shall be segregated and made to undergo antigen testing at the railway station. If the antigen test report comes negative, the passengers will be allowed to go home.
The decision comes days after the Maharashtra government said it was deliberating whether a complete ban on flights, train and road travel to and from Delhi and Gujarat should be imposed or people coming from the national capital should be quarantined upon their arrival in the state.
Total COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra has touched 1.78 million, and the death toll has reached 46,623.
