New Delhi (NVI): Schools and colleges will reopen from tomorrow in Manipur after a long gap since the Covid-induced lockdowns.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, according to the reports.
At the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that the schools will reopen for students of classes 9 to 12 in view of the upcoming board examinations for the higher classes.
Meanwhile, all colleges will also reopen with strict guidelines of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of COVID-19, a release issued by the Department of Information & Public Relations said.
Under the SOPs, the state government has instructed all educational institutes to sanitise all common areas, classrooms, labs, and staff rooms before they reopen.
Also, thermal checks at the entry points of the institutes for all students and staff need to be conducted.
So far, the northeastern state has recorded 28,997 coronavirus cases, while the death toll stands at 369 in Manipur, the Health Ministry data shows.
