Maruti Suzuki to hike prices from Jan 2020

New Delhi (NVI): India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki today announced increase in price of its various models due to rise in the input costs, the company said in a regulatory filing.

According to the company, the increase in prices will come into effect from January 2020.

“The cost of the company’s vehicles has been impacted adversely due to increase in various input costs. Hence, it has become imperative for the Company to pass on some impact of the above additional cost to customers through a price increase across various models in January 2020,” the statement added.

Maruti Suzuki India sells vehicles through its Arena and Nexa channels. Among the vehicles sold through the Arena dealerships are Alto, WagonR, Celerio, S-Presso, Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and Eeco.

Similarly, it sells models like Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz, S-Cross and XL6 through its Nexa dealerships.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki dispatched 1,41,400 units to its dealers in the local market.

Overall, the car maker sold 1,50,630 (including exports and sales to other Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) units in November posting a decline of -1.9 per cent, when compared to 1,53,539 units in the same month last year.
