Islamabad, Feb 6 (NVI) At least 31 Muslim worshippers were killed and more than 170 were injured today in a massive explosion caused by a suicide bomber at a Shia mosque here, marking one of the worst attacks targeting the minority community in recent years in Pakistan.

The powerful blast at Khadijatul Kubra mosque-cum-Imambara in the Tarli area of Islamabad took place at the time of Friday prayers, according to eyewitnesses.

The suicide bomber detonated explosives attached to his body at the gate of the mosque when he was stopped there, the eyewitnesses and police said.

TV footage showed several bodies lying around the premises along with pieces of glass and debris.

Hours after the explosion, Islamabad district administration posted on X that at least 31 people were killed and 169 others injured in the incident.

The death toll is likely to rise as several injured are stated to be in critical condition.

Emergency was declared in the hospitals of Islamabad as rescuers continued to bring in the injured people.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the blast.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which was sought to be blamed by the authorities, issued a statement tonight, saying it was not involved in the explosion as its “targets are clear and well defined — Pakistan’s security institutions and their collaborators”.

The attack came less than three months after a suicide bomber killed 12 people in a blast outside a district and sessions court building in Islamabad.

The massive explosion took place at a time when Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was in the town, on a State visit since yesterday. (NVI)

Balochistan: BLA says Operation Herof continues, Pakistani military spreading lies

Image released by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) during Operation Herof 2

Quetta, Feb 5 (NVI) Calling out Pakistani military for spreading lies, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) tonight said its ‘Operation Herof 2’ is underway even after passage of 6th day “with full determination, consistency and success”, contrary to the claims made otherwise by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement, BLA said the conclusion of ‘Operation Herof 2’, which was launched at multiple places in Balochistan on January 31, would be announced by the outfit itself with complete proof.

“ISPR’s latest propaganda regarding Operation Heirof is another chapter of lies,” said the statement issued by BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch while commenting on the false claims by ISPR that “all the attackers” were killed and the attacks ended on the first day itself.

“The Baloch Liberation Army once again makes it absolutely clear that Operation Heirof 2 continues into its sixth consecutive day with full determination, consistency, and military success,” the spokesman said.

“Until and unless the BLA itself announces the conclusion of an operation, all claims by the occupying state and its media apparatus, including ISPR, must be regarded as propaganda. These claims have no basis in ground realities and carry no credibility among the Baloch people,” he added.

The BLA spokesman referred to a recent ISPR press release, saying it is “merely a continuation of the falsehoods that began on the very first day of Operation Herof.”

“On day one, the occupying Pakistani State falsely claimed that it had concluded the operation and eliminated ‘all attackers’. That same claim has been repeated every single day for the past six days,” he said.

“Every new press release contradicts the previous one, and each so-called ‘success’ actually reflects a new form of failure,” Jeeyand Baloch asserted.

“Any independent journalist or clear-minded observer can easily see that the Pakistani military is not only facing consistent defeat on the battlefield but is also completely exposed in the narrative domain,” he added.

The BLA spokesman said the Pakistani army “hides the bodies of its mercenary soldiers, conceals their identities, and buries their coffins in silence because it knows that these individuals were consumed by a war that lacks moral foundation, political legitimacy, and public support.”

He said the daily claims by ISPR of “killing dozens of Sarmachars (freedom fighters) serve two central purposes.

“First, to mask the continuous military failures and large-scale corruption of occupying state institutions, especially before the Punjabi population, by fabricating fake victories so that no one questions how such a heavily funded army, equipped with modern technology, remains unable to establish control and occupation over Baloch Land.

“Second, to lend credibility to their false narrative by executing forcibly disappeared persons and presenting their bodies as combatants, thereby concealing the crimes of enforced disappearances and the brutal reality of torture cells operated by the state.”

On the other hand, the spokesman said, BLA’s fighters and ‘fidayeens’ enter the struggle with the belief that martyrdom is an honorable culmination of resistance.

“For us, the martyrdom of any Sarmachar is a matter of pride, a renewal of our revolutionary resolve, and a symbol of endurance for future generations. The BLA proudly publishes the names, photographs, numbers, and circumstances of its martyrs, and preserves their ideological legacy at the heart of the movement,” Jeeyand Baloch said.

He said throughout the ‘Operation Herof’, the BLA has received an unprecedented level of practical support, intelligence cooperation, and moral solidarity from the Baloch people.

“The occupying state cannot even begin to comprehend the depth of this support. While its institutions attempt to sustain military control through force, they also try to depict themselves as victims through media manipulation,” he said.

The BLA has “transformed this liberation struggle into an unbreakable force through principled resistance, territorial connection, and an uninterrupted chain of sacrifices,” he said.

“We reiterate that the conclusion and outcome of Operation Herof will be determined solely by the Baloch Liberation Army. The occupying power, which tries to hide its defeat behind daily inflated statistics, holds no authority to make such declarations,” the spokesman said.

“When the BLA does announce the conclusion of the operation, it will be accompanied by clear proof of territorial control, intelligence victories, and the enemy’s repeated retreats,” he said.

He noted that over the past six days, BLA has already published verified images and videos of captured areas, destroyed enemy posts, and seized military assets through its official media channels. (NVI)

Balochistan: BLA says Operation Herof 2 continues on 5th day, 310 Pakistani security men killed

Quetta, Feb 4 (NVI) Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) tonight said its ‘Operation Herof 2’ continues even after passage of 5th day, with its fighters “holding strong positions” at several locations across Balochistan after repelling Pakistani forces and killing at least 310 of the enemy personnel, as per conservative estimates.

The BLA, which launched coordinated and simultaneous attacks on Pakistani military and administrative installations at 48 places on January 31 morning, said, “the enemy is attempting to conceal its military defeat and casualties from the world.”

The freedom-seeking Baloch outfit said if the independent media wishes to verify the claims of BLA and conduct an impartial assessment of ground realities, they may visit any army camp, including those in Noshki, Dalbandin, Quetta, Kharan, Mastung, Gwadar, Pasni, Tump, and Turbat, to witness the extent of the defeat firsthand.

Issuing its latest statement some minutes back, the BLA said, “Operation Herof Phase 2 has entered its fifth day and continues across various areas of Balochistan. On multiple fronts, fighters of the Baloch Liberation Army are holding strong positions, and control remains intact at several locations.”

The statement, issued by BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch, said, “like on the previous days, the occupying forces are facing intense pressure, setbacks, and disarray on different fronts, while Baloch fighters continue to thwart the enemy’s military advances through sustained resistance.”

According to preliminary and conservative assessments, at least 310 personnel and operatives of the occupying Pakistani army, FC, police, CTD, and army-backed death squads have so far been killed, he said.

These figures are not final, and given the ground situation, further increases in the enemy’s human and material losses are likely, he added.

The spokesman said BLA has lost 46 of its fighters, including 29 fidayeen of the Majeed Brigade, 10 members of the Fateh Squad, and 7 fighters of the STOS unit in the operation so far.

Detailed and final information regarding the martyrs will be formally released at a later time, he added.

“It should be noted that all these figures are preliminary and non-final and may increase further. Complete details regarding the losses inflicted on the enemy and developments of the operation will be shared with the media at an appropriate time,” Jeeyand Baloch said. (NVI)

Balochistan: Operation Herof continues on 4th day; BLA says over 280 Pakistani security men killed

Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOQ) of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

Quetta, Feb 3 (NVI) On the 4th day of Operation Herof 2.0 today, fighters of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) continued to control several areas, including the Noshki city, of Balochistan, the outfit said and claimed to have killed at least 280 personnel of Pakistan Army and various other forces as per “preliminary and conservative estimates”.

The BLA said the Pakistani military, suffering defeat and embarrassment on the battleground, has resorted to targeting civilian areas of Balochistan by helicopter shelling and drone attacks, killing several innocent people in the process.

“Operation Herof Phase Two has entered its fourth day and continues at full intensity across various areas of Balochistan,” BLA said in its latest statement issued some minutes back.

In Noshki city and several other locations, Baloch Liberation Army fighters are holding strong positions and maintaining control, it said.

“According to the ground situation, occupying forces are facing intense pressure, repeated setbacks, and disarray on multiple fronts, while Baloch fighters continue to repel and neutralize the enemy’s military advances through sustained resistance,” said the statement issued by BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch.

Citing “preliminary and cautious assessments”, he said approximately 280 personnel and operatives of the occupying Pakistani army, FC, police, CTD, and army-backed death squads have so far been killed by the BLA fighters so far.

“These figures are not final, and given the evolving ground realities, further increases in the enemy’s human and material losses are expected,” he said.

Complete and verified details of the enemy’s losses will be released to the media at an appropriate time after consolidation, the spokesman added.

“During Operation Herof, 35 fighters of the Baloch Liberation Army have so far attained martyrdom, including 18 fidayeen of the Majeed Brigade, 10 members of the Fateh Squad, and 7 fighters of the STOS unit,” he informed.

Detailed and final information regarding the martyrs will be formally released later, the spokesman said.

“On the battlefield, the Pakistani army has suffered a decisive defeat in direct, face-to-face combat with Baloch fighters.

“In an attempt to conceal its military failures, the occupying Pakistani forces have begun targeting Baloch civilian populations, carrying out drone strikes and shelling through helicopters.

As a result, multiple innocent civilians have been killed. These actions are a clear reflection of the enemy’s moral, military, and political bankruptcy,” Jeeyand Baloch said. (NVI)

Balochistan: ‘Operation Herof 2’ highlights extraordinary stories

Woman BLA fidayeen Hawa Baloch who was killed during Operation Herof 2 in Balochistan

Quetta, Feb 3 (NVI) A 60-year-old elderly woman, a middle aged couple and a 23-year-old girl — they were among the many suicide attackers of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) who took part in the ‘Operation Herof’ launched against the colonizer Pakistani military and administration in Balochistan on January 31.

These suicide attackers, along with thousands of other heavily-armed fighters of BLA, caused havoc among the Pakistani forces at multiple places across Balochistan.

Hundreds of Pakistani soldiers have been killed and injured in the coordinated and simultaneous attacks launched by BLA fighters on the morning of January 31 and continue even now.

These attackers included several women ‘fidayeen’ (suicide attackers), which conveys how desperate the ethnic Baloch people have become because of the extreme oppression by the Pakistani armed forces and the police controlled by the occupier Pakistani State.

The fact that even women, old as well as young, willingly opt for such suicidal missions underscores that Pakistan and its forces have pushed to the wall the people of Balochistan who have been struggling for independence of the region captured militarily by Pakistan in 1948.

Here is the example of fidayeen Hatam Naz Sumalani alias Gul Bibi, a resident of Gharbok in Bolan in Balochistan, who carried out the suicide mission as part of ‘Operation Herof 2’ at the age of 60 years.

Hatam Naz Sumalani joined BLA in 2015 after she was fed up with the atrocities carried out by the Pakistani forces.

She participated in a BLA operation in 2016, during which she was wounded and captured by the Pakistani forces.

She was in the captivity of Pakistani forces for 4 months, during which she was brutally tortured and left scarred mentally.

Finally, in January 2023, she made her decision to be a fidayeen, at an age when a person normally tends to go into safety and comfort. But she chose a different path altogether, suggesting how much oppressed she would have been.

Now, take another case of 28-year-old Yasma Baloch alias Zareena, and her 32-yeare-old husband Waseem Baloch alias Zirbar, who carried out the suicide mission together while participating in the Operation Herof 2.

“They shared a marriage before they shared a final stand,” said a statement by BLA.

Yasma and Waseem “sacrificed their lives together while attacking the occupying forces’ camp in Pasni. Their story is not only about death, but about how private life and national duty fully converged, turning a partnership into a symbol of shared commitment and resistance,” it said.

“The two were bound by partnership and a shared decision to give everything for what they believed the freedom of their motherland demanded,” the BLA statement added.

Yasma from Buleda had joined the BLA’s Majeed Brigadge, which specializes in suicide missions, in 2022. Waseem, hailing from Zamuran, was active in the movement in 2014 and joined the Majeed Brigade in 2022, according to the statement.

Another tragically extraordinary story is that of fidayeen Asifa Mengal, a 23-year-old beautiful young woman who carried out the suicide mission by attacking the headquarters of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI in Noshki on January 31.

She drove a vehicle loaded with explosives and rammed it into the main gate of the complex, destroying it through a huge explosion and enabling her associate fighters to gain entry to the premises.

Born on October 2, 2002, Asifa Mengal joined the BLA’s Majeed Brigade on October 2, 2023, and took her fidayee decision in January 2024, according to the statement.

“At a young age, she became part of a trajectory shaped by conviction rather than circumstance. On 31 January 2026, she carried out a VBIED operation targeting the ISI headquarters in Noshki,” the BLA said.

Hawa Baloch was another female fidayeen of BLA’s Majeed Brigade, who participated in the operation and died during an attack in Gwadar on January 31 after fighting valiantly against the Pakistani forces.

“During Operation Herof, Phase Two at the Gwadar Front, Fidayee Hawa Baloch fought selflessly, shoulder to shoulder with fellow Fidayeen,” the BLA said.

About 12 hours before her death, she issued a video statement to describe the operation and her state of mind.

Sabzal Baloch was another suicide attacker, who gave up his life while attacking an installation of Pakistani forces in Pasni on January 31.

He had joined the BLA in 2022 and became a part of the Majeed Brigade in 2023.

“Over a limited span of years, his path reflected sustained intent rather than momentary impulse. Each decision was taken with awareness of consequence and responsibility, shaped by lived experience rather than circumstance. What he ultimately gave was not a single act, but his entire life to a cause he consciously chose and consistently upheld,” the BLA statement said. (NVI)

Operation Herof 2 is in 3rd day: BLA says it still holds multiple locations, 220 Pakistani security men killed

Chief of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) Bashir Zeb (on the right side) along with an associate.

Quetta, Feb 2 (NVI) Issuing the latest update on its ‘Operation Herof 2’ a few minutes back, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said it continues to control multiple locations across Balochistan even after 58 hours and over 220 personnel of Pakistani security forces have been eliminated so far, as per the preliminary estimates.

“Operation Herof Phase Two has entered its third day and continues across different areas of Balochistan even after 58 hours,” said the BLA in its new statement.

“For the past three days, Baloch fighters have been fighting with determination and courage, continuously forcing the enemy forces into disarray, and in several areas the authority of the occupying army has been completely dismantled,” said the statement issued by spokesman Jeeyand Baloch.

“BLA fighters are holding strong positions at multiple locations,” he said.

Giving details, he said the city of Noshki and a large section of the army camp remain under the control of the Baloch Liberation Army, where occupying Pakistani forces are facing intense pressure and retreat.

“According to preliminary and cautious estimates, the total number of enemy fatalities among the occupying Pakistani army, police, CTD, and the army-backed death squad operatives has reached close to 220,” the BLA spokesman said.

“These figures are not final, and further increases in enemy losses are expected as the ground situation develops,” he said.

Complete and final details of the enemy’s human and material losses will be released to the media soon after compilation, he said.

“During the operation so far, the number of martyred BLA fighters has reached 27, including 14 fidayeen of the Majeed Brigade, 8 fighters from the Fateh Squad, and 5 fighters from the STOS unit,” he said.

About Noshki, the spokesman said it remains under the control of the Baloch Liberation Army, and fighters continue to hold their positions at several other locations.

In areas where the completion of operations has not been announced, the situation remains active and operations are ongoing, Jeeyand Baloch said.

“The Baloch Liberation Army once again appeals to the Baloch people to remain cautious, maintain a safe distance from the enemy, and continue providing support and cooperation to the fighters with unity and responsibility, as has been done over the past three days,” he said. (NVI)

Peshwar, Feb 2 (NVI) The Pakistani military continues to suffer heavily in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and elsewhere due to the ongoing ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’ of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has claimed to have killed 350 personnel of the armed government forces and injured 361 in 245 actions during the month of January.

Issuing a detailed report of its operations carried out during January, the TTP said the maximum 56 actions were conducted in South Waziristan, 39 in North Waziristan, 33 in Tank district, 26 in Bannu district, 18 in Dera Ismail Khan district, 15 in Khyber district, 14 each in Bajaur and Lakki Marwat districts, 12 in Peshawar district, 4 in Kurram district and 3 each in Mohmand and Kohat districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

The TTP also carried out 5 operations in Quetta district of Balochistan and 2 in Dera Ghazi Khan in Punjab Province, according to the statement issued by its spokesman Muhammad Khorasani.

The types of operations included 66 Sniper/laser attacks, 41 Direct confrontational attacks, 31 Guerrilla attacks, 28 Targeted attacks, 27 Ambushes, 20 Grenade/bomb explosions, 18
Retaliatory attacks and 14 Missile attacks, the statement said.

Besides killing and injuring 711 personnel of the Pakistani forces, the TTP captured 17 military personnel.

Among the killed/injured personnel, 436 belonged to the Pakistan Army/Special Services Group (SSG), 150 to the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC), 102 to Police/Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and 40 to Intelligence/Peace Committees.

The killed/injured armed forces personnel included 1 Captain and 1 Inspector, according to the statement.

These actions of TTP resulted in destruction of 21 military/police structures, 16 military trucks and other vehicles, 2 Tanks/armoured vehicles, 2 drones, 34 security cameras, 5 water/energy systems and 1 Excavator.

The TTP also seized military equipment, including 4 vehicles, 11 types of firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, 2 grenades, and supplies meant for armed forces.

In these actions, TTP lost 15 of its cadres, according to the statement.

TTP launched ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’ or ‘Spring Offensive 2025’ in March last year to specifically target Pakistani military and its associates with more intensity.

While announcing the launch, the TTP had said its fighters have already “landed in the battlefield equipped with modern resources in most of the provinces” to carry out the operation.

For the operation, special units were constituted at the central and provincial levels of TTP and the fighters were specially trained in guerella warfare.

The Al-Khandaq involves targeted attacks, counter-attacks, raids, intelligence attacks, sniper attacks, and indiscriminate attacks using modern laser guns in a systematic manner on security institutions, their vehicles, and their camps, forts, and posts. (NVI)

Balochistan update: BLA says Op Herof 2 continues after 40 hrs, over 200 personnel of Pakistani forces killed

Woman BLA fidayeen Hawa Baloch who was killed during Operation Herof 2 in Balochistan

Quetta, Feb 2 (NVI) In a fresh update, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) tonight said its ‘Operation Herof Phase II’ is going on across different parts of Balochistan even after 40 hours, during which more than 200 personnel of the Pakistani forces have been killed and a large amount of Pakistani properties have been destroyed.

The BLA has lost 18 of its fighters in these operations spread across 48 locations since the start of the coordinated and simultaneous attacks on the morning of January 31.

The freedom-seeking outfit also announced successful completion of the operations in various places, including Kharan, Mastung, Dalbandin, Tump and Pasni, saying the “designated objectives” have been achieved there and the fighters have returned to their secure locations.

“In areas where the completion of operations has not been announced, the situation remains active and operations are ongoing,” said the statement issued by BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch.

According to preliminary and cautious estimates, more than 200 personnel of occupying Pakistani army, police and Frontier Corps have been eliminated so far, while 17 personnel have been captured, he said.

“These are conservative figures, whereas the overall casualties and property losses of the enemy are far greater,” he said.

Complete details of the enemy’s losses will be released to the media at an appropriate time after compilation, the spokesman said.

“During the operation, 18 fighters of Baloch Liberation Army have been martyred so far, including 11 fidayeen of Majeed Brigade, 4 fighters of Fateh Squad and 3 fighters from the STOS unit,” he informed.

Details of the martyrs and final information will be released later, he added.

“Baloch Liberation Army appeals to the Baloch nation to remain cautious, maintain a safe distance from the enemy and continue providing support and assistance to the fighters in areas where the end of operations has not yet been announced, as has been done so far.

“Operation Herof remains ongoing and further updates will be provided at an appropriate time,” Jeeyand Baloch said. (NVI)

We still control several parts of Balochistan, over 150 personnel of Pakistani forces killed: BLA

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) fighters at some undisclosed location. File Pic.

Quetta, Feb 1 (BVI) Even after passage of more than 35 hours, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) continues to maintain control over several parts of Balochistan, defeating Pakistani military’s repeated attempts to regain its hold and eliminating at least 150 ‘enemy’ personnel.

BLA, in its latest statement, said its ‘Operation Herof Phase II’, launched yesterday morning, “continues with full intensity across Balochistan even after 35 hours”.

“Freedom fighters continue to have strong control over several places including Shaal, Noshki, where enemy’s military and administrative presence has been repelled,” said the statement issued by BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch.

He said the BLA fighters are still present in many areas and the occupying Pakistani forces are facing decisive pressure and defeat.

Under the ‘Operation Herof Phase II’, thousands of heavily-armed BLA freedom fighters early morning yesterday launched coordinated and simultaneous attacks, including suicide attacks, at military, police and administrative installations of Pakistan at 48 places across Balochistan.

“So far, more than 150 personnel of occupying Pakistani army, FC and police have been neutralised during Operation Herof Phase II, while military and administrative infrastructure of enemy has been severely damaged,” the BLA spokesman said.

He said the casualty figure of 150 is conservative as the Pakistani military has actually suffered much higher losses and those details would be given out at an appropriate time.

“Pakistani army has completely failed in several places, including central urban areas of Quetta, while (BLA) fighters are still present and holding their positions,” Jeeyand Baloch said.

“Operation Herof 2.0 is still ongoing. Baloch Nation is appealed to remain cautious and continue to cooperate with same spirit and solidarity as Baloch freedom fighters have been fully supported so far,” the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Noshki Muhammad Hussain Hazara and Assistant Commissioner Maria Shamoo, who were arrested by the freedom fighters yesterday, have been released on “humanitarian grounds because Baloch Liberation Army has no direct enmity with police, Levies or local civil administration”.

He recalled that Baloch Liberation Army has repeatedly made clear its policy that if police or local forces do not resist freedom fighters, they will not be harmed.

“Honorable release of these officers is practical proof of this policy,” the spokesman said.

“Wherever police have been targeted and killed, reason has been that police have stood by occupying Pakistani army and tried to obstruct way of fighters,” he added.

The BLA spokesman repeated the warning that “whoever, even a Baloch, becomes an assistant to occupier (Pakistan) and obstructs fighters, will face the same fate as enemy and will be treated like enemy. That is why police have suffered heavy casualties at some places, for which they themselves are directly responsible.

“Once again, police, Levies and local civil administration are clearly warned that if they do not come before Baloch freedom fighters, they will not be targeted and will be released with dignity like Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner.” (NVI)
