Northern Command celebrates 74th Infantry Day in J&K’s Udhampur

New Delhi (NVI): The 74th Infantry Day was celebrated by Northern Command with traditional wreath laying ceremony at the Dhruva Shahid Smarak in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir today.

Lieutenant General C Bansi Ponnappa, Chief of Staff, Northern Command on behalf of Lieutenant General YK Joshi, Army Commander, Northern Command laid wreath at Dhruva Shahid Smarak, Udhampur and complimented all ranks and veterans of Infantry for their devotion to duty and indomitable spirit while working under trying and challenging conditions.

He saluted their contributions and sacrifices to protect territorial integrity of the Nation and fighting terrorism with unstinting resolve.

Infantry Day is celebrated to commemorate the operations launched by the Indian Army on October 27, 1947, to thwart the Pakistani aggression on Jammu and Kashmir.

On this solemn day, the supreme sacrifices made by the Indian Army in defending the honour and integrity of the nation is remembered by all.
