Udhampur, Mar 28 (NVI): The Northern Command Investiture Ceremony 2026 was held in Udhampur on Saturday, where 93 awards were conferred on Army personnel and units for gallantry and distinguished service, officials said.
The ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command, who presented awards to personnel in recognition of their courage, dedication and exemplary service.
According to officials, the awards included 52 individual honours and 41 unit citations, acknowledging acts of exceptional bravery, distinguished service and commitment to duty across operational domains.
The individual awards comprised four Yudh Seva Medals, one Bar to Sena Medal, 37 Sena Medals, one Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal, eight Vishisht Seva Medals and one Jeevan Raksha Padak (posthumous).
The event was attended by serving officers, awardees and their families.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Sharma lauded the awardees for their professionalism and dedication under challenging conditions and emphasised maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence while upholding the traditions of the Indian Army.
Officials said the ceremony highlighted the Army’s core values of valour, dedication and selfless service, while recognising the role of Northern Command personnel in safeguarding national security across multiple operational domains.(NVI)
