Srinagar, Oct 18 (NVI): National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah Tuesday said that the poll verdict of J&K Assembly polls was a clear message that people have not accepted the August 5, 2019 decision of New Delhi. He also clarified that his son Omar Abdullah will be the next Chief Minister of J&K.
Speaking to reporters outside his Gupkar residence in Srinagar, Dr Farooq said that he was glad over what seems clean sweep by the NC across J&K. “The verdict is a clear message that people of J&K have not accepted the August 5, 2019 unilateral decision imposed on them by the Centre,” NC chief said.
Asked who would be the Chief Minister of J&K, he said his son Omar Abdullah will be head of the 90-member Assembly. “Omar Abdullah will be the CM of J&K,” he said.
To a query how he sees the huge mandate given to NC, Dr Farooq said that now the J&K affairs won’t be run by the LG and his four advisors but by the 90 members of Legislative Assembly. Replying to a query what would be the priorities of the government now, to tackle the growing unemployment and end drug abuse in J&K. “We will also strive hard to get back what has been snatched from us,” he said.
