Man Killed After Bid to Snatch SOG Rifle in Bhaderwah J&K ; Three Personnel Injured

Bhaderwah, July 17 (NVI): One person was killed and three Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel were injured in a firing incident in the Gandoh area of Doda district after the deceased allegedly attempted to snatch a service rifle from security personnel on  Friday.

Officials that the incident took place late Thursday night when an SOG team had laid an ambush along the Jaie-Gandoh road following inputs about suspicious movement in the high-altitude area.

During the operation, a man allegedly tried to snatch the service weapon of an SOG personnel, triggering a firing incident in which he was killed, while three SOG personnel sustained injuries, they said.

Meanwhile, police have detained a religious preacher for questioning in connection with the incident. Officials said the exact nature of his involvement, if any, is being investigated.

Further investigation into the incident has been taken up. (NVI)
