Kabul, Sept 24 (NVI) Tensions are escalating between Pakistan and Afghanistan after the former carried out fresh cross-border air strikes that killed 4 Afghan nationals and evoked an angry response from the Taliban regime of Kabul.
Pakistan said it hit 10 locations in Afghanistan where drones were “stored and launched” against it yesterday.
Afghanistan’s Taliban regime said the air strikes targeted Kandahar, Paktia and Khost provinces, and termed the act as aggression.
At least four people were killed, said Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Afghan Taliban government said.
The attacks were carried out at around 3 AM (Afghan time) and most crucially targeted Kandahar, the spiritual headquarters of the Taliban.
The Taliban regime slammed Pakistan and promised an “appropriate response”.
Pakistan government said Afghanistan had attempted drone attacks on it yesterday.
The Taliban regime denied its involvement in the launch of drones, which Pakistan yesterday claimed to have shot down.
Even three days back, Pakistan carried out air strikes at three places in Afghanistan, in which 3 civilians, including a woman, were killed.
Tensions between the two neighbours have remained high as Pakistan has been adopting hostile and demeaning attitude towards Afghanistan and the Afghan nationals.
Pakistan accuses the Taliban regime of Afghanistan of supporting Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) which is fighting against the Pakistani military. (NVI)
