Pakistan: TTP claims killing of several Pakistani soldiers in multiple attacks

Peshawar, Mar 29: In continuing operations against the Pakistani military, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed to have killed and injured several soldiers in multiple attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province over the span of a week.

The TTP said while the killing of 11 soldiers was confirmed, there was a strong possibility of several more casualties among the Pakistani forces in various other attacks carried out by the outfit.

Giving details, TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani said 2 soldiers were killed in an attack on post of paramilitary force Frontier Corps (FC) in Parsha area of Toi in South Waziristan district on March 25.

Two more soldiers were killed in an attack on a military post in Kot Ghbarag area in Zarmilan in South Waziristan on March 24.

One soldier was killed in an attack on a military post in Lakha Sarmain area of Shaktoi in South Waziristan district on the same day.

In Tanai area of Wana in South Waziristan district, a sniper attack on a military post killed one soldier on March 24, the spokesman said.

In the same district, two other attacks in Khaware Narai in Toi and in Bazaar in Azam Warsak are likely to have caused casualties among the soldiers, he said.

In Tank district, a military ration vehicle was asked to stop on the Dera Ismail Khan main road but it did not, after which the TTP militants fired at the vehicle, resulting in the killing of one FC soldier and injury to the driver, the spokesman said.

The incident occurred on March 25.

In Gomal in Tank district, a police officer involved in the killing of 6 TTP men was shot dead in a targeted manner on March 24, the spokesman said.

In Peshawar, a soldier was injured in a TTP sniper attack at a military post in Pas Pakhi Bala area, he said.

In North Waziristan, a military convoy, comprising 2 trucks and 5 small vehicles, was ambushed in Khushhali Metasi area of Mir Ali, resulting in killing and injury of several soldiers, whose exact number was not known, he said.

Multiple casualties among the soldiers are likely to have been caused in an attack at Khatti Mor area of Daraban in Dera Ismail Khan district, the spokesman said.

In Bannu district, TTP militants carried out an attack on a military check post in Bakki Khel area, using a grenade launcher (GL), he said, adding there is a strong possibility of multiple personnel being killed or injured.

On March 24, the TTP militants fought back an attack by the Pakistan Army in Kahvi Pure area of Prova in Dera Ismail Khan district, he said.

There is a strong possibility of casualties on the army side in the clash, he added.

In North Waziristan district, an attack using a Grenade Launcher was carried out on a military post near a hotel in Mir Ali, which resulted in the killing or injuries to 2 soldiers, he said. (NVI)
