Muzaffarabad (Pakistan-occupied J&K), Aug 1 (NVI) In yet another brutal action against people of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), suspected members of Pakistani intelligence agencies have shot dead a prominent local leader to silence a voice against the Pakistani State.

Javed Naji, Vice Chairman of the Awami Action Committee Gilgit-Baltistan, was brutally murdered at his home in Diamer Gilgit in front of his wife and children.

Javed Naji, also known as Javed Numbardar and Javed Qureshi, was killed in a targeted manner on July 29, according to reports.

“This is another targeted killing by Pakistani agencies like Arif Shahid Shaheed and Dr. Ghulam Abbas Shaheed,” said Prof Sajjad Raja, Chairman of National Equality Party – JK Gilgit-Baltistan (NEP-JKGBL).

“Javed Naji was martyred for his political struggle and his ideology of restoring the unity of the Gilgit-Baltistan state,” Raja said, adding that the deceased had “started organizing the struggle for the restoration of the unity of the state in Gilgit-Baltistan and this is the reason for his martyrdom.”

Raja added, “The (Pakistan) government tried its best to silence Javed Naji’s powerful voice under Schedule IV and ATA cases. But when the establishment could not suppress Javed Naji’s voice and failed to intimidate and suppress Javed Naji in any way, he was shot and martyred in front of his family.”

The NEP-JKGBL Chairman, who lives in exile in England, said “We will raise the issue of Javed Naji’s martyrdom worldwide and pledge that Javed Naji’s historic struggle will not be allowed to fall victim to expediency in any way.” (NVI)
