Shaal (Pakistan-occupied Balochistan): Pakistani atrocities in occupied Balochistan continue unabated, with at least 34 Baloch people, including a 10-year-old boy, being victimised by the Pakistani forces through the brutal practice of ‘Enforced disappearances’ in the month of October, according to a report.
These 34 people joined thousands of other fellow Baloch people who have been subjected to ‘Enforced disappearances’ by the Pakistani agencies over the years and decades.
‘Enforced disappearances’ is a term used to describe the inhuman practice of the Pakistani security forces and agencies under which a person is illegally picked up, after which his/her whereabouts or fate are never known. The victims even include children, girls and women.
‘PaanK’, the human rights department of Baloch National Movement (BNM) organisation, has enlisted and highlighted the cases of human rights violations that took place in Balochistan in the last month.
According to its report, 34 cases of enforced disappearances were documented in October 2023.
The report highlighted the enforced disappearance of Safar Ali, a 10-year-old from Balochistan, and the arrest of Farid Baloch, a student at Punjab University. According to the report, Farid was falsely accused of drug dealing after his arrest.
It also states that two individuals were killed by Pakistani forces in extrajudicial encounters during the month of October.
Despite these challenges, various human rights groups and affected families organized protests and demonstrations throughout the month, it said.
The family of student leader Shabbir Ahmed staged a protest in Karachi demanding his safe return, the report pointed out.
A seminar was also held on the issue of enforced disappearance of human rights activist Rashid Hussain Baloch.
It called on international organizations to take note of such inhuman practices being pursued by occupying Pakistani forces in Balochistan and initiate immediate action to protect and promote human rights in the region.
