Jammu: The Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police today foiled 4th attempt of Pakistan in two weeks to push terrorists into this side of Jammu and Kashmir, killing 3 of them near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.

One of the Indian soldiers was injured in the encounter that took place with heavily-armed infiltrating terrorists in Krishna Ghati sector, the Army said.

The Army said the counter-infiltration operation, code named ‘Op Resham’, was undertaken last night on the basis of specific intelligence input about attempt by a group of terrorists to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

Ambushes were laid and the infiltrators were engaged, leading to a gunfight.

The 3 terrorists tried to run back to the PoJK side but were felled by the bullets of the Indian soldiers near the LoC.

One soldier suffered a gunshot wound and was evacuated, the Army said.

“Int based Counter Infiltration Ops by #IndianArmy & JKP. Infiltration Bid Eliminated in Krishna Ghati Sector on 23/24 Jun, in which 1 soldier suffered GunShot Wound & evacuated. 3 infiltrators running towards LC engaged by own troops & seen falling down near LC,” said a tweet by the Jammu-based Army Corps.

In the last 2 weeks, this was the 4th attempt by Pakistan to push terrorists into this side of Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the intensity of their evil designs and desperation to disturb peace, especially perhaps during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra beginning July 1.

While the three earlier attempts were made in Kashmir zone, particularly Kupwara district, the latest bid was made in Jammu zone.

In fact, the latest attempt came just a day after 4 infiltrating terrorists, most probably Pakistanis, were intercepted and killed in Macchil sector of Kupwara district.
