New Delhi (NVI): Yoga guru Ramdev today released a research paper by Patanjali on what he called “first evidence-based ayurvedic medicine” against coronavirus disease – Coronil.

Ramdev released the paper in the presence of Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. To recall, Ramdev’s Haridwar-based Patanjali had last year brought out Coronil, its medicine against Covid-19.

As per reports, Coronil has now received certification from Ayush Ministry as per World Health Organization (WHO) certification scheme.

“Coronil has received the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (CoPP) from the Ayush section of Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation as per the WHO certification scheme,” Patanjali said in a statement.

As per the statement, Coronil can now be exported to 158 countries. Ramdev has said that Coronil will help the humanity while providing affordable treatment based on naturopathy.

He said that on the basis of presented data, the Ministry of Ayush has recognised Coronil Tablet as a medicine for “supporting measure in Covid-19.”

Pertinent to mention here that Pantanjali had launched Coronil for treating Covid-19 infection on June 23 last year. Patanjali CEO Acharya Balkrishna had claimed that the medicine could cure Covid-19 patients within 5-14 days.

However, the AYUSH Ministry had taken Patanjali’s claim with a pinch of salt and had asked the company to stop advertisements for the drug until the issue had been examined.
