New Delhi (NVI): A Philippines team led by chief implementer of the Philippines’ Declared National Policy against COVID- Carlito Galvez Jr is in India to finalise agreements with Serum Institute of India (SII) on supplies of Novovax vaccine.
The Philippines government had signed a deal in January to secure the supply of 30 million doses of the Covovax from Serum Institute of India (SII). The vaccine has been developed by US Pharma major Novovax and being manufactured in by Pune-based SII.
Shambhu Kumaran, Indian envoy to Philippines, tweeted today on the growing momentum in engagement on vaccine between the two countries.
“Delighted to see growing momentum in engagement on vaccines with #Philippines. Vaccine Czar Secretary Galvez currently in Pune to finalize agreement with @SerumInstIndia on Novovax. Meanwhile, active efforts on to obtain EUA for #Covaxin and conclusion of commercial arrangements,” he tweeted.

Kumaran tweeted in response to a tweet by the Indian embassy which said earlier today: “Amb @shambhukumaran emphasizes outstanding phase 3 trials results of COVAXIN and the excellent track record of @BharatBiotech. Hopes to see early conclusion of commercial supply arrangement for COVAXIN in the #Philippines.”
