Rajnath hails ‘maturity’ of Indian Army for peace at LAC

Itanagar (NVI): Defence Minister Rajnath singh today lauded the Indian Army for showing restraint, sensibility and maturity to bring down tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), irrespective of pending border issues with China.

He saluted the soldiers’ spirit for securing the country’s borders even in the most challenging environment.

The Minister who is on a two-day visit to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh today visited the forward areas in Bumla near Tawang district and interacted with the Indian Army personnel.

“During my Bumla visit I have come to know that despite perceptional differences on the boundary issue both the Indian Army and the PLA have been sensible enough to reduce tensions on LAC. I congratulate the Indian Army for showing great maturity in all situations,” the Defence Minister tweeted.

The Minister also visited the memorial of Subedar Joginder Singh, who was awarded the highest military gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra posthumously.

Yesterday, the Minister attended the 11th Maitree Diwas Celebrations. While addressing the celebrations, Rajnath Singh said, that the the government was planning to set up the ‘Arunachal Corridor’ which will act as a land bridge between India and South East Asia that will provide employment opportunities and give fillip to trade and tourism.
