Rajouri, Jun 17 (NVI): A 45-year-old man died during treatment after he was allegedly assaulted in a dispute over land in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, police officials said on Wednesday.
Munir Hussain, a resident of Behrote village in Thanamandi area, was allegedly attacked with wooden sticks and an axe by three relatives on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The injured man was initially taken to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Thanamandi and was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, they said.
According to police, the deceased’s wife, Shamim Akhter, lodged a written complaint alleging that Mohammad Razaq, Najma Kausar and Mehtab Ahmed, all residents of Behrote, assaulted her husband following a land dispute.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Thanamandi Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation has been initiated, officials said.
