New Delhi (NVI): The Supreme Court today reserved its order till tomorrow, on a combined plea by Congress, Shiv Sena and NCP for an urgent floor test in Maharashtra.
A three-judge Bench comprising Justices NV Ramana, Ashok Bhushan and Sanjiv Khanna reserved its order for Tuesday at 10:30 am.
Counsel for the Shiv Sena Kapil Sibal told the Apex Court that he has affidavits of 154 MLAs supporting the Shiv Sena alliance and pressed for an immediate floor test. Adding that the pre-poll alliance failed as promises made before the elections were not honoured.
Meanwhile, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who is appearing for Maharashtra chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, opposed the immediate floor test by a protem speaker, instead wants floor test only by a full time speaker.
Notably, the Supreme Court on Sunday had sought the production of letter presented by Devendra Fadnavis to Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari claiming majority to form government with the support of Ajit Pawar-led MLAs.
