New Delhi (NVI): The government of Goa has decided to reopen schools for Classes 10 and 12 from November 21.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made the announcement yesterday and said that with all COVID-19 guidelines in place, the classes for Standard 10 and 12 will resume from November 21.
In a tweet, Sawant said, “To secure the future of our students, the Government has decided to commence regular classes of std. 10th and 12th from 21 Nov 2020 with SOP and all COVID-19 norms in place.”
“We have to fight COVID-19 and also ensure that prospects of our students are not hampered,” he added.

However, the decision was taken following a meeting chaired by Sawant, who is also the state Education Minister, and officials of the Education Department.
Earlier, the chief minister had held consultations with the stakeholders in the last week of September, and it was then decided that schools will not reopen immediately from October 1.
So far, Goa had recorded more than 44,180 COVID-19 cases. The state had reported over 618 deaths due to the virus.
