Shivamogga: 8 dead in dynamite blast

    New Delhi (NVI): At least eight people were killed in a blast of a truckload of explosives in Hunasodu village in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district last night.

    The massive explosion took place near a gravels and boulders crushing facility.

    The loud blast that occurred at around 10.20 pm on Thursday night, resulted in mild tremors in and around Shivamogga.

    According to media reports, a truck carrying gelatin exploded. Workers in the truck were killed.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the dynamite blast.

    “Pained by the loss of lives in Shivamogga. Condolences to the bereaved families. Praying that the injured recover soon. The State Government is providing all possible assistance to the affected,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tweeted quoting PM Modi.
