Shootout in Srinagar; Cop killed, one terrorist injured

Srinagar: A policeman was killed here today in a gunfight with three terrorists who managed to escape, one of them with bullet injuries, police said.
The shootout took place in Zoonimar area of Soura when a team of policemen was trying to entrap the terrorists following a specific input about their movement in the area, police said.
The Kashmir Police had the input regarding movement of the terrorists in a vehicle and an under-cover team of cops was tracking them.
The terrorists, however, got suspicious and opened indiscriminate fire on the police team.
In the firing, Constable Amir Hussain Lone was critically injured and died later at a hospital, the police said.
One of the terrorists was injured as the police team retaliated to their firing. But they managed to escape, taking advantage of a big crowd of commuters there, the police said.
The terrorists belonged to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), IGP (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar said.
Two of them have been identified as terrorist commander Basit and Rehan.
These terrorists have been involved in recent terror crimes in Srinagar & Budgam and will be tracked down & brought to justice soon, Kumar told reporters.
