Sopore, Apr 24 (NVI): Police in north Kashmir’s Sopore have detained six individuals under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged involvement in vandalism and disturbing public order during a recent student protest, officials said on Friday.

Police said the detained individuals were identified as Umar Akbar Hajam of Seelu, Salman Ahmed Shala of Shalpora, Altaf Ahmed Sheikh of Panzipora Tarzoo, Mubashir Ahmed Gilkar of Naseerabad, Muzammil Mushtaq Changa of Arampora and Majid Firdous Dar of Chinkipora.

They were booked under the PSA after obtaining detention warrants from the competent authority and have been lodged in District Jail Bhadarwah, officials said.

Authorities said more individuals involved in the incident are being identified for similar legal action.

Reiterating zero tolerance against activities that disturb peace, police warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in such acts.(NVI)
