Srinagar, Dec 28 (NVI): In response to the heavy snowfall, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has mobilized over 40 snow clearance machines across the city, with manual efforts also underway to ensure internal colonies remain accessible. Dr. Owais Ahmad, the Commissioner of SMC, confirmed the ongoing efforts and assured residents that the snow clearance operations are progressing smoothly.

Dr. Ahmad, who conducted an on-site inspection of the city’s snow clearance operations, stated, “Snow clearance machines have been working since early morning and continued overnight to prioritize main roads, especially those leading to hospitals and major connections.” He added that over 40 machines have been deployed across various wards, with manual teams clearing more than 2,000 lanes within residential colonies.

“Manual and machine-based clearance is underway to ensure that internal colonies are accessible,” Dr. Ahmad said, urging the public not to be concerned. “Our ground staff has been on duty since 5 AM, fully prepared for the task at hand.”

The SMC Commissioner explained that the snow clearance is being carried out in phases. “Phase one has been completed, and the subsequent phases are progressing steadily,” he noted. The SMC has assured that efforts will continue until normalcy is restored throughout the city (News Vibes of India)
