Srinagar Police arrest two drug peddlers, Contraband seized

Srinagar, Jan 18(NVI): In a continued effort to combat drug abuse, Srinagar Police arrested two suspected drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of contraband substances during routine patrolling in the Bishambarnagar area of Khanyar.

The suspects, identified as Imran Ahmad Ganie, son of Gh. Mohammed Ganie of Naibasti Anantnag, and Abid Hamid Nanda, son of Ab. Hamid Nanda of Dagpora Khanbal, Anantnag, were intercepted by a police team. Upon searching them, substantial amounts of contraband were recovered.

Both individuals have been taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 02/2025 has been registered at Police Station Khanyar under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the contraband.

Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112. “We are committed to eradicating the drug menace and will take stringent action against those involved,” a police spokesperson said.
