New Delhi (NVI): The Tamil Nadu government, which announced public holiday today, has extended it tomorrow too in 13 districts, following heavy rainfall and the expected cross over of ‘Nivar’ cyclone.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami took to Twitter and made the announcement of public holiday on Thursday.
“Chennai, Vellore, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Nagai, Thiruvarur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tanjore, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvannamalai, Ariyalur and Perambalur districts will continue to have public holidays tomorrow (26.11.2020),” the Chief Minister tweeted in Tamil.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone is likely to cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mamallapuram around Puducherry during mid-night of November 25 and early hours of 26 November as a very severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 120-130 kmph gusting to 145 kmph.
Meanwhile, the Chennai-Puducherry border has been sealed and the public have been requested to stay indoors and follow all the precautionary measures issued by the state government.
