Tourist from West Bengal drowns while taking photos in Pahalgam’s Betab Valley

Srinagar, Sep 27 (NVI) : A 56-year-old tourist from West Bengal drowned in the Lidder River at Betab Valley Pahalgam, District Anantnag.

An official told NVI that a tourist from West Bengal drowned in the Lidder River at Betab Valley while taking photographs late last night.

He said the tourist was rescued immediately and sent to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Pahalgam, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival. His body is now lying at PHC Pahalgam.

He was later identified as Devabrota Ghosh (56), son of Jagannath Ghosh from Hoolay, West Bengal.

Meanwhile police have taken up the investigation.—(NVI)
