Peshawar: Demonstrating a new deadly capability, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) today targeted a Pakistani military camp with a missile, which it said has been made by its own engineers.

TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said there was a strong possibility of casualties at the military camp caused by the missile Al-Farooq which carried 70 kgs of explosives.

The Pakistan military usually hides or gives a reduced figure of the casualties and losses suffered in such humiliating attacks.

“This afternoon, Mujahideen of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan fired an Al-Farooq missile prepared by engineers of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan at Laghrai scout camp in Laghrai area of Loi Mamond, district of Bajaur Agency, Malakand province, which hit the center of the camp,” Khurasani said.

About 70 kgs of ammunition was used in the Al-Farooq missile, he said.

“There is a strong possibility of casualties,” he said, adding that complete details of damage could not be obtained due to operation of drones and helicopter flights in the area by the military after the attack.

Use of self-prepared missile showcases a deadlier capability of TTP which is waging a war against Pakistani military.

The Islamist outfit has already been using, with rampant frequency, the snipers, causing heavy casualties and damage among the Pakistani military.
