Srinagar, Aug 20 (NVI): Two back to back earthquakes of magnitude 4.9 and 4.8 on the Richter scale struck Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir on Today morning, National Center for Seismology said.
In a post on X NCS said The earthquake occurred at around 06:45 IST.
The earthquake struck at a depth of 5 km at a longitude of 74.15 East and latitude of 34.17 North.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.9, Occured on: 20/08/2024 06:45:57 IST, Lat: 34.17 N, Long: 74.16 E, Depth: 5 Km, Region: Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.” NCS said.
Another earthquake of 4.8 magnitude occurred at 6:52 IST.
The depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometres at a longitude of 74.31 East and latitude of 34.20 North.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.8, Occured on: 20/08/2024 06:52:29 IST, Lat: 34.20 N, Long: 74.31 E, Depth: 10 Km, Region: Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir.” NCS said.
Meanwhile a man had jumped from Ahmad complex Baramulla during the earthquake who received injuries and was taken to the hospital.(News Vibes of India)
