Two policemen killed in suspected fratricide incident at J&K’s Udhampur district

Jammu, Dec 8 (NVI): In a tragic incident, two policemen from Sopore, Baramulla district, were killed today morning while traveling in a departmental vehicle in Udhampur district of Jammu. Initial investigations suggest it was a case of fratricide while police have taken up the probe to find out actual cause.

According to police officials, the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when Police Station Rehambal (Udhampur district) received a report of gunfire inside a vehicle carrying policemen to the Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) Talwara in Reasi district

“Preliminary investigations suggest it is a case of fratricide, with one officer allegedly shooting his colleague before taking his own life,” police stated, adding that further probe was on.

Senior officers have arrived at the scene, and the crime site has been secured. Forensic teams, including experts from the State Investigation Agency (SIA), are conducting a detailed probe to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur district Amod Nagpure said that firing happened inside the vehicle and investigation is on to know that actual cause.(News Vibes of India)
