Kishtwar (J&K), Sep 13 (NVI) : Two personnel of the Indian Army were killed and 2 injured in a fierce gunfight in a mountainous area of Kishtwar district in Jammu today.
Another encounter broke out late tonight in a village in Baramulla district of Kashmir.
The encounter in Kishtwar took place in a forest area of Chatroo village, officials said.
The gun battle started at around 3.30 pm when security forces were conducting a search operation in the area.
In the initial firing by the terrorists hiding in the bushes, 4 soldiers were injured, the officials said.
They were immediately evacuated but two of them succumbed to their injuries later.
The operation is continuing with more forces being rushed to the site.
It is believed that 2-3 terrorists of Jaish-e- Mohammad outfit are in the area.
The security forces have widened the cordon to ensure terrorists don’t flee.
The encounter is under way a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Doda district where he is scheduled to address an election rally. (NVI)
