Srinagar, Dec 30 (NVI): Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan convened a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar today, bringing together senior officials to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting, held at a government facility, was attended by the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), top police officers, and other key security personnel.
The main focus of the meeting was to evaluate the region’s security preparedness as the winter tourist season approaches. Officials discussed ongoing security operations and the readiness of forces to address potential threats. There was a strong emphasis on enhancing coordination between central and local security agencies to ensure effective management of law and order in both urban and rural areas.
One of the key agenda items was the security arrangements for the upcoming winter carnival events in Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and other popular tourist destinations. Authorities are particularly focused on safeguarding both visitors and locals, with a surge in tourist arrivals expected during the winter months. The meeting also highlighted the readiness of police and intelligence agencies to handle any unexpected security challenges that may arise.
Beyond tourism-related concerns, the review also covered broader security issues in Jammu and Kashmir, including counter-insurgency efforts and the security situation along the borders.
