New Delhi (NVI): All universities and colleges across Uttar Pradesh reopened from today, after over 11 months of closure due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The government decided to reopen all degree colleges, state, private universities and other educational institutions of higher learning in the state.
All the higher educational institutes that are being opened today have to follow the guidelines issued by the state government regarding COVID-19.
Under the guidelines, students and teachers will have to mandatorily wear face masks while they are on campus and follow social distancing.
Moreover, institutes will have to get the complete campus, including all the common areas, classroom and laboratories, completely sanitise before reopening.
“Attendance in the universities and colleges will not be mandatory and online classes will continue,” as per the guidelines.
Apart from this, in case any student, teacher or staff member exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, they are to be immediately sent home and testing should be done and results should be recorded.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh has registered 602,190 coronavirus cases with over
590,400 recoveries, while the death toll stands at 8,702 in the state.
