New Delhi, Oct 16 (NVI) India expressed “deep concern” over an alleged plan to carry out a mass shooting at a Hindu temple in Illinois in the US and asked the authorities there to ensure safety, security and well-being of Indian nationals.

A 19-year-old has been arrested near Chicago for allegedly planning a mass shooting at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Aurora, Illinois, on Sunday.

The plan reportedly failed after his gun got jammed and could not fire.

The teenager appeared in court on October 14 and was charged with one count of making a terrorist threat and one count of unlawful possession of weapons.

The failed incident is linked to growing concerns over “racist hostility and anti-India hate” in the US. (NVI)
