New Delhi (NVI): Warm and humid winds prevailing from Bay of Bengal are likely to cause extreme rainfall and thunderstorms over Northeastern states and adjoining East India from May 30.
According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), “Due to strengthening of southerly winds, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls very likely over Northeastern states and adjoining East India from 30th May, 2021.”
Under its influence, parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim received isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls yesterday, the IMD said.
Heavy rainfall lashed parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh because the remnants of very severe cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ were weakened into a well-marked low pressure area in that region yesterday.
