Weather forecast in Jammu and Kashmir: Mostly Dry Till April-End

Srinagar, Apr 22 (NVI): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Wednesday said that Jammu and Kashmir will largely witness dry weather conditions till the end of April, with only brief spells of rain and thundershowers expected on select dates.

Director MeT Centre Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that no major weather activity is likely till month-end except short rain spells around April 24-25 and April 29-30.

He said that on April 22-23, weather will remain generally dry with a possibility of light rain at a few places towards late afternoon.

For April 24-25, the MeT has forecast partly to generally cloudy conditions with one or two brief spells of light rain or thundershower at scattered to many places, accompanied by gusty winds at a few locations during late afternoon and evening hours.

On April 26, weather is expected to remain mostly dry, although brief light rain may occur at isolated places in the afternoon, while April 27-28 is likely to remain generally dry.

The MeT further said that April 29-30 and May 1-2 may witness generally cloudy conditions with brief spells of light rain or thundershower at a few places, mainly during late afternoon hours.

In its advisory, the MeT has asked farmers to continue farm operations till April 23, while also noting that day temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius at many places during this period. (NVI)
