New Delhi (NVI): The world’s first-ever space hotel ‘Voyager’ is set to start its construction in 2025 with the intention of opening it to guests by 2027.

Named the Voyager Class space station, the hotel will be able to hold up to 400 guests.

Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) is the company behind the idea and has announced that construction on the Voyager Class will begin in 2025.

“The station will be designed from the start to accommodate both national space agencies conducting low gravity research and space tourists who want to experience life on a large space station with the comfort of low gravity and the feel of a nice hotel,” according to the OAC website.

As per its website, the Voyager Class space station is described as “a rotating space station designed to produce varying levels of artificial gravity by increasing or decreasing the rate of rotation.”

The space station will be a large circle and rotate to generate artificial gravity that will be set at a similar level to the gravity found on the surface of the Moon.

The hotel will be replete with facilities like themed restaurants, a health spa, a cinema, gyms, libraries, concert venues, Earth-viewing lounges, and bars and rooms for 400 people.

Crew quarters, air, water, and power will also be available in the spaceship. The construction of the Voyager Station will begin in 2025 and will be operational by 2027.

It will cruise around the Earth in 90 minutes.

OAC has not revealed the details of costs to build the space hotel or the cost of spending a night in the hotel, however, the company said that the costs are getting cheaper because of reusable launch vehicles like the SpaceX Falcon 9 and the future Starship.

The team building the space station includes NASA veterans, pilots, engineers, and architects.
