Udhampur, Apr 20 (NVI): At least 15 people were killed and 16 others injured after a passenger bus met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday.
The bus, which was travelling from Ramnagar to Udhampur, met with the accident near Jalo area under unclear circumstances, a senior police official said.
“Fifteen persons have died in the accident, while 16 others sustained injuries. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment,” the official said.
Police, along with teams from the local administration, launched a rescue operation immediately after the incident and are evacuating the injured.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Udhampur Shiv Kumar Sharma has reached the spot to supervise the rescue and relief efforts, officials added.(NVI)
