Anantnag, May 4 (NVI): Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday busted a concealed narco hideout in Srigufwara area and recovered a large quantity of charas, officials said.
Officials told that the action was carried out in connection with FIR No. 39/2026 registered at Police Station Srigufwara.
During the course of investigation, police obtained a search warrant under Section 41 of BNSS from the Court of JMIC Bijbehara to search the residential premises of an accused, identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat, a resident of Shitipora.
During the search, police unearthed a hidden hideout allegedly used for storing narcotic substances. Upon thorough checking, around 3.9 kilograms of charas-like substance was recovered and seized on the spot following due legal procedure, they said.
A K9 squad was also pressed into service to assist the search operation, ensuring a professional and scientific approach, officials said, adding that all legal formalities were completed at the spot.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and further investigation is underway, they added.(NVI)
