Srinagar: Three terrorists, including a Pakistani, were killed by security forces in two separate encounters in Kashmir today, police said.
The encounters took place in Kupwara district, bordering Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and in Shopian district.
The gunfight in Chaktaras Kandi area of Kupwara erupted in the early hours during a cordon and a search operation launched after a specific input about presence of terrorists there.
The encounter left two terrorists dead, including a Pakistani identifed as Tufail, police said.
“Two terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT including one Pakistani terrorist namely Tufail killed,” Kashmir Zone police tweeted, quoting IGP Vijay Kumar.

Another encounter took place in an orchard in Badimarg Aloora area of Shopian district, police said.
In this, one terrorist was killed, the police said.
This was the third encounter in Kashmir in 24 hours.

In an encounter last evening, security forces eliminated a Pakistani terrorist in Sopore.
Two other foreign terrorists and a local terrorist managed to breach the security dragnet and escaped, police said.
