3 Terrorists killed in Twin Operations at Kupwara, Gunfight starts at Rajouri

Srinagar, Aug 29 (NVI): Three terrorists have been killed in two ongoing anti-terrorist operations in Phillora area of Tanghdar and Machil area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, army said today.

Third anti-terrorist operation is underway in Budhal area of Rajouri district of Jammu, defence officials said.

In the past 15 hours, three anti-terrorist operations have taken place and all three are in progress. Army’s 15 Corps based in Srinagar, wrote on X that based on intelligence inputs regarding likely infiltration bids a joint anti-infiltration operation as launched by the army and Police on the intervening night of 28-29 August in general are of Tangdhar. “One terrorist is likely to have been neutralised,” the Army wrote on X.

Defence sources said in what seems to be an infiltration bid in Machil sector of Kupwara, a massive combing operation is on. “There was an exchange of fire and two terrorists are believed to have been killed,” they said. “Both operations are underway and it seems that terrorists were pushed in from two locations.”

In Budhal area of Rajouri, an encounter has started between security forces and terrorists. “There is a tip off about presence of two to three terrorists,” an official said.                  (News Vibes of India)
