Mild quake hits Maharashtra’s Palghar

    New Delhi (NVI): An earthquake of magnitude 2.5 on the Richter scale occurred today at around 3.45 pm in Palghar, Maharashtra, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) stated.

    So far, no reports of any damage have surfaced, however, all the concerned authorities are monitoring the situation.

    Magnitude 2.5 is a very light intensity quake and have minimum changes of posing any danger to life and property.

    India has witnessed several mild to strong tremors in several parts over the last few months.

    An earthquake happens when two blocks of the earth suddenly slip past one another. The surface where they slip is called the fault, the location below the earth’s surface where the earthquake starts is called the hypocenter, and the location directly above it on the surface of the earth is called the epicenter.
