New Delhi (NVI): Amid rising cases of coronavirus across the country, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today ordered curbs on both indoor and outdoor gatherings from March 1.
Indoor gatherings will be restricted to 100 while outdoor gatherings to 200 persons from March 1.
Chairing a high-level virtual meeting to review the situation, the Chief Minister also authorised deputy commissioners (DCs) to impose night-curfew in COVID-19 hotspots in their districts if needed.
He directed the police force to ensure strict enforcement of wearing of masks and social distancing along with notification of Covid monitors by all restaurants, marriage places etc.
The move comes amid growing concerns over an upswing in the number of coronavirus cases in the state.
So far, no new mutated variant of the coronavirus had been witnessed in Punjab but new samples had been sent for testing and the results were expected next week.
