New Delhi (NVI): Amid an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the Pune district authorities today revised the timing of night curfew from 6 pm to 6 am from earlier 8 pm-7 am.

The 12-hour curfew will come into effect from tomorrow and will remain in effect for a period of at least one week, with a review of the order and coronavirus situation scheduled for next Friday.

Moreover, it has been decided to shut restaurants, bars, malls and religious places for seven days.

However, the restaurants will be allowed to provide food parcel and delivery services until 10 pm, according to reports.

Pertinently, Pune is among the worst-affected areas in India, as a result of a renewed wave of infections.

Yesterday, as many as 8,011 new cases were reported. This was the second consecutive 24-hour period to cross that mark, after 8,605 – Pune’s biggest single-day spike detected on Wednesday.
