Srinagar: Kashmir Police today eliminated two Pakistan-supported terrorists, including one involved in the recent killing of a police Head Constable, in an encounter in Srinagar.
The encounter, in which the two were killed, took place in Zakura area early this morning following a specific input about presence of the terrorists, police said.
As soon as the search operation was launched, the terrorists hiding in a house opened fire at the police party.
The police retaliated effectively, resulting in the killing of two terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the police spokesman said.
The slain terrorists were identified as Ikhlaq Ahmad Hajam, a resident of Kulgam district of Kashmir and Adil Nisar Dar of Pulwama district.
Two pistols and five hand grenades were recovered from the encounter site, police said.
Ikhlaq was involved in the killing of Head Constable Ali Mohd at Hasanpora in Anantnag district on January 29, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar said.
He was also involved in an IED blast in Kulgam on January 18.
