Srinagar: Pakistan-supported terrorists today killed an elderly man and injured 24 others by lobbing a grenade on a busy road during the Sunday market in the heart of Srinagar.
The grenade attack took place in the market near Amira Kadal bridge at around 4:20 PM, the police said in a statement.
“In this act of terror, one old man from Nowhatta (area of Srinagar) has succumbed to injuries while one girl is critically injured and is battling for life,” the police added.
Another 24 other people, including 23 civilians & 1 policeman, received splinter injuries but are out of danger, it said.
“In light of this terrorist act of grenade throwing in the busy Sunday market near Amira Kadal bridge, all civilians are requested to be vigilant and report any suspected activity to thwart the nefarious designs of terrorists,” the police said.
Efforts are underway to nab the culprits behind the attack.
