New Delhi: India-made COVID vaccines Covishield and Covaxin will now cost Rs 375 each dose in private hospitals in the country.
This has been made possible as the Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech have reduced the prices on these life-saving vaccines, respectively.
Both the vaccines will now cost Rs 225 in private hospitals.
With the application of Rs 150 as service charge, each dose of these vaccines will now cost Rs 375.
So far, Covaxin was priced at Rs 1260 while Covishield would cost Rs 630 per dose at private vaccination centres.
“We are pleased to announce that after discussion with the Central Government, SII has decided to revise the price of COVISHIELD vaccine for private hospitals from Rs.600 to Rs 225 per dose,” the company’s CEO and owner Adar Poonawalla tweeted.
