Srinagar: In a gunfight in Kashmir, security forces today killed two terrorists who were involved in several terror crimes, including the gunning down of a Territorial Army (TA) jawan last year, police said.
The encounter took place in Poshkreeri area of Anantnag district in South Kashmir, the police said.
The gunfight took place after security forces started a search operation to track down hiding terrorists, based on a specific input.
The 2 terrorists, belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen, were killed in a brief encounter.
“Killed #terrorists identified as Danish Bhat @ Kokab Duree & Basharat Nabi, both affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit HM,” tweeted Kashmir Zone police, quoting Additional DGP (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar.
“Both were involved in #killing of one TA personnel Saleem on 9 April 2021 & killing of two civilians on 29 May 2021 in #Jablipora,” it added.
Saleem, a 43-year-old TA jawan, was gunned down at his residence when he was home on leave.
